What Makes Good Voice Acting Scripts for Practice

Good voice acting scripts are short enough to repeat many times and specific enough to give you a choice to make. A two-line script with a clear situation teaches more than a page of description, because you can record ten versions in five minutes and compare them.

Each script on this page gives you three things:

A character and a situation

You know who is talking and what just happened.

A direction in brackets

It suggests an attitude, not a voice. Ignore it once you have tried it.

A turn

Somewhere in the lines the character changes their mind, gets interrupted, or reveals something. The turn is where the acting happens.

These voice acting scripts are for practice, auditions at home, classes, and fun with friends. They are not tied to a show or a game, so you can perform them in your natural voice or invent a character sound.

How to Use These Voice Acting Scripts

  1. 1

    Read the script cold.

Say it out loud once without planning. That first read shows your default habits.

  2. 2

    Decide what the character wants.

Write one verb, such as convince, hide, warn, or comfort.

  3. 3

    Record three takes.

Try it quiet, conversational, and big. Keep the same objective each time.

  4. 4

    Listen back and pick one.

Choose the take where the turn lands clearly, then try it on a scene with a timed line.

The last step is the one most practice scripts skip. Reading a voice acting script in a quiet room is different from fitting a line to a moving mouth. The Play area above gives you timed lines, so you can test whether your choice still works when the scene sets the pace.

Beginner Voice Acting Scripts

Start here if you have never recorded yourself. These voice acting scripts use everyday situations, so you can focus on clarity and one emotional change.

The Wrong Order

CUSTOMER (polite, slowly losing patience)

Hi, sorry, I ordered the small soup. This is a large pizza. With pineapple. I didn't order pineapple. Nobody at this table has ever ordered pineapple. You know what, it smells great. Leave it.

First Day Announcement

NEW MANAGER (nervous, trying to sound confident)

Good morning, everyone. My name is Dana, and I am very excited to be your new manager. I have prepared a short speech. It was longer. I dropped two pages on the bus. So this is the speech now. Thank you.

Cartoon and Animation Voice Acting Scripts

Animation voice acting scripts reward bigger energy and clear contrast. Push the attitude further than feels natural, then pull back until it still sounds like a person.

CartoonSolo · big energy

The Overconfident Sidekick

PIP (fast, proud, then caught out)

Relax, boss, I have the map. I have always had the map. The map is in my pocket. My other pocket. The pocket I had yesterday. Okay, small update: I know exactly where the map was.

Tiny Robot, Big Feelings

BOLT-7 (flat robot voice that keeps cracking)

Greeting. I am a cleaning unit. I do not have feelings. I cleaned your room because it was dirty. Not because you looked sad. Please do not hug the cleaning unit. Hugging is... acceptable.

Video Game Voice Acting Scripts

Video game voice acting scripts are often short barks and quest lines that a player hears many times. Each line has to sound fresh on its own and still match the character.

The Quest Giver

OLD FERRYMAN (tired, kind, hiding fear)

You want to cross the river tonight? Nobody crosses after dark. Not since the lanterns went out on the far bank. I can take you as far as the middle. After that, you row, and you do not look down.

SCOUT (record each line as its own take)

"Contact, left side!" / "Reloading, cover me!" / "I'm hit, I'm fine, keep moving!" / "That was too close." / "Clear. Everyone breathing?"

Villain Voice Acting Scripts

The best villain voice acting scripts are quiet. Try this one without growling or shouting first. A calm threat often sounds more dangerous than a loud one.

VillainSolo · quiet threat

The Calm Offer

THE COLLECTOR (warm, patient, never raises their voice)

Sit down. You are not in trouble. Yet. I only want the key. You keep the house, the car, the little dog. I am a reasonable person. I will ask nicely one more time, and then I will stop being reasonable.

Commercial and Narration Scripts

Commercial and narration voice acting scripts test pace and warmth instead of character. Aim to sound like you are talking to one person, not reading to a crowd.

ANNOUNCER (friendly, unhurried)

Mornings are loud. Alarms, traffic, three tabs open before breakfast. Brightside Tea is the quiet part. Real leaves, no sugar, ready in four minutes. Brightside Tea. Start slow.

NARRATOR (curious, measured)

At first light, the tide pulls back and the rocks begin to move. What looks like stone is a crab, waiting for the water to leave. It has done this every morning of its life. Today, something is different.

Two-Person Voice Acting Scripts

Dialogue voice acting scripts teach listening. Record both roles yourself with a clear difference in pace, or give one part to a friend.

The Wrong Apartment

ALEX (sure of themselves): Finally. I have been knocking for ten minutes. Where is the cake?

JORDAN (confused, polite): I'm sorry, what cake?

ALEX: The birthday cake. Sam's party. Apartment 4B.

JORDAN: This is 4D.

ALEX (long pause): Is there any chance you have a cake?

Move voice acting scripts into a real scene

Once one of these voice acting scripts feels easy, move it into a scene. Open the Dub Pack library, pick a clip with a character close to the one you practiced, and keep the same objective while you record the timed lines. The voice acting game page explains that loop in more detail, and the multiplayer guide shows how friends can record separate roles from their own devices.

If you want a sound-imitation warm-up before reading voice acting scripts, try a round of Mimic Party. It plays a short sound and scores how close your impression comes.

Voice Acting Scripts FAQ

Are these voice acting scripts free to use?

Yes. Every script on this page is original and free for practice, classes, home auditions, and personal videos. You do not need an account to read them, and you can record them anywhere. Please do not sell them as a script collection.

What are good voice acting scripts for beginners?

Start with short everyday scripts such as The Wrong Order or First Day Announcement. They have one clear situation and one emotional change, so you can hear whether your choice landed. Move to cartoon, villain, and two-person voice acting scripts once your takes sound clear.

How long should a practice script be?

Two to six lines is enough. Short voice acting scripts let you record several takes in a few minutes and compare them back to back. Longer pieces are useful later for stamina and narration, but they make it harder to hear one specific choice.

Can I use these scripts for a voice acting demo reel?

You can use them to practice and to test your microphone, but a demo reel usually works better with material that sounds like the jobs you want, such as real ad copy or game lines from a client. Use these voice acting scripts to find your range first.

How do I practice voice acting scripts with a real scene?

Press Play above, choose a Dub Pack, and record each timed line. Unlike voice acting scripts on paper, the scene sets the pace, so you learn to fit an acting choice into a fixed length. Replay the take, keep what works, and retry the line that missed.

Read it. Record it. Hear it in a scene.

Pick one of the voice acting scripts above, then press Play and voice a Dub Pack.
